Gouya Askari Ranekouhi was born in Torrance, California and grew up in Southern Orange County.
She attended the University of California at Irvine, where she majored in Criminology, Law and Society and minored in French, graduating in 2009. Immediately thereafter, she attended California Western School of Law in San Diego, CA, receiving her J.D. degree in April of 2012. In addition, she studied International Law in Santiago de Chile at the Heidelberg Center for Latin America. While at California Western School of Law, Ms. Ranekouhi served as the Middle Eastern Law Student Association’s President for two years. She has also been serving the IABA SD Chapter for the past three years, formerly holding the Law School Liaison and Student Director positions in helping the IABA SD’s Chapter raise scholarship funds for deserving law students and organize networking events for law students. While in law school, Ms. Ranekouhi was a law clerk at the Chula Vista City Attorney’s Office (Civil Division) and also has experience interning in the areas of Estate Planning, immigration law, criminal defense, personal injury and medical malpractice. Ms. Ranekouhi became a member of the California Bar in December of 2012. Ms. Ranekouhi is fluent in Farsi and French and proficient Spanish.
