Sohrab Christian Yassan
Sohrab is a Senior Business Analyst at the Local Initiative Health Authority for LA City where he compiles data for project development and policy implementation in furtherance of his organization’s goals to provide health care to the population of Los Angeles County.
Sohrab’s formative years were spent in a dual curriculum and multilingual atmosphere where he studied under the auspices of the French Department of Education with a specialization in literature and a specific penchant towards philosophy. Sohrab later received his B.S. from the University of California, Riverside in Biology, with a focus on plant biology and genetics with the objective of better understanding and reducing food scarcity. Sohrab decided to attend law school at the University of West Los Angeles where he further refined his passion for helping the underprivileged. It thus followed that Sohrab joined the school’s legal clinic as a certified law student to help children of disadvantaged families with special needs to secure the entitlements for which they were eligible vis à vis their local school districts.
In his spare time, Sohrab studies the linguistics of Indo-European languages and history, and has translated the entirety of Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s Du contrat social ou Principes du droit politique, from its original French language to English. Sohrab also enjoys hiking, off-roading, mountain biking and skiing when he is not working or traveling to make his yearly pilgrimage to a new UNESCO World Heritage site.
In addition to his membership with the Iranian American Bar Association, Sohrab is also a member of the Farhang foundation, the American Society of Plant Biologists, and the founder of IranRising.com, a website aimed at promoting the growing movement for a free society in Iran.
