Paniz Karimpour is a second-year law student at the City University of New York (CUNY) School of Law. Born in Tehran, Iran, she immigrated to the U.S. at 17. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2021 with a degree in Political Economy and a minor in Public Policy. Before law school, she gained experience in various legal fields and interned at the Alameda County Public Defenders Office, fueling her desire to pursue a public interest-driven legal career.
At CUNY Law, Paniz serves as a Student Government Representative, Director of the Women of Color Coalition, and a member of the HALT Solitary Confinement Executive Board. Aspiring to become a Public Defender, she aims to zealously advocate for her clients and promote Public Interest law within the Iranian and Iranian-American communities, recognizing their significant underrepresentation in this field.
