Sara Erfani

Sara Erfani is Corporate Counsel for an international software company specializing in commercial and technology transactions, enterprise legal operations, and regulatory compliance. Her practice focuses on complex technology and vendor agreements, including SaaS, cloud services, software licensing, cybersecurity, data privacy, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies. She also has significant experience advising regulated retail energy businesses on compliance and market participation across multiple U.S. jurisdictions.

Sara earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 2018 and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics. Throughout her career, she has focused on providing practical, business-minded legal counsel while building scalable legal and compliance systems that help organizations operate more effectively.

Born and raised in Kentucky to an Iranian father and American mother, Sara was raised with a strong connection to Persian culture and grew up navigating both her Iranian and American identities. Chicago later became an important part of both her professional and personal life. She attended law school at DePaul and has spent her legal career working for Chicago-based companies. Even while residing in Kentucky from 2021 through 2026, she remained professionally connected to Chicago and traveled to the city frequently for work.

Now based in the Chicagoland area, Sara is excited to deepen her involvement in the Iranian-American legal community through IABA’s Chicago Chapter. She is particularly interested in building relationships with fellow Iranian-American attorneys, supporting mentorship and professional development, and contributing her experience in technology transactions, legal operations, regulatory compliance, and business-focused legal strategy.
