Shawdy Banihashemi is an associate at Holloway, Odegard & Kelly, an insurance defense law firm


in Phoenix, Arizona.  She previously was a deputy public defender with the Maricopa County Public Defender’s Office.  Ms. Banihashemi received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2003 and obtained her law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2006.  A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Ms. Banihashemi relocated to Arizona in 2005 and began her legal career in Phoenix.  Her experience includes a wide variety of criminal defense, insurance defense and general civil litigation matters.  In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Banihashemi has also co-published an article in the Champion Magazine, titled “Heartbreak Hotel and the Fourth Amendment: A Motel Graphic.”  She has conducted numerous trainings and seminars regarding the effective use of criminal jury instructions.  Currently, Ms. Banihashemi is a member of the State Bar of Arizona Committee on Minorities and Women in the Law and the Convention Committee.  She was also a selected participant of the State Bar of Arizona Bar Leadership Institute 2010-11.
