Statement Regarding Mahsa Amini

The Iranian American Bar Association (IABA) mourns, and is deeply saddened by, the tragic death of Mahsa Amini while in custody and sends its sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones. The IABA believes it imperative that all governments ensure the rule of law and fundamental rights of residents, including women’s rights, due process, and the accountability of any individuals who violate the rights of those held in detention. Our thoughts are with the people of Iran during this difficult time.
